Vicki in Canada
The moment Vicki was released from the crate used to transport her it was as if nothing changed in her world. She looked around her new home and quickly ate her first meal. Walks have been great. Turns out she loves snow and even the cooler temperatures don't bother her, however, she doesn't like ice under her feet. She has plenty of grass to sniff and even gets to run off-leash in certain designated areas. I think the new city isn't so different from where she came from to her although when she found pine cones on the ground she didn't know whether to eat them or run. Now I think she knows those pine cones are harmless and they don't taste very good.

Quiet Days But Not For Long
I haven't been posting on Vicki's blog because life has been fairly stable these last couple of months for Vicki. Her red puffy eye is completely healed, she lives for her walks, treats and meal times. Life's good in Vickiland, that is, until we transport her to the frozen Canadian North in three weeks. Yes, Vicki will become a Canadian citizen. It's fairly uncomplicated to export her to Canada. She needs a health exam 10 days before flying and she already had the necessary rabies shot. I think she'll love the snow but we'll need some warm woollies for our tropical girl. She makes friends easily with people but she'll miss the good old days too. For now she sleeps in her warm bed completely unaware of the adventures that await her.

Holiday Pounds
Vicki looks like she's put on a few pounds over the holiday season. I think lounging at the Dogotel got her out of normal routines like her daily walks and carefully measured food. The bag of dog food that I sent with her was rather low on return. Anyway it's all good we'll get her back down to size. I'm still amazed at how fit Vicki is compared to when we first adopted her from HKDR. She still really loves her food and ours too, sometimes a bit too much. I love her enough to say no most of the time but other times I just have to give in. It's difficult to say no to that expressive little face.

A New Year and Better Eyes to See With My Dears
Vicki had a cyst on her eye that looked really bothersome but behold when we brought her back from Dogotel after our holiday that eye is much improved! No more puffy redness.

When she left for her staycation I felt so guilty. Her big bulging brown eyes looked puzzled as I watched her go but when she was delivered back to us safe and sound she was so excited she just ran around in circles. Then she plunked herself down on her favourite spot on the couch and fell asleep.

Hello From Vicki
I just wanted to let people know that Vicki is doing fine these days although she has a red bulbous protrusion on her eyelid called a meibomian gland cyst.

The vet gave us some antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory but the area hasn't changed much. It really doesn't seem to bother her but the vet suggests surgery to remove the cyst if it doesn't improve.

We are living in a different area for a few more months and then Vicki, our cat Augustus and Greg and Laura will be moving back to Canada. We'd like to get the surgery done before the big move, if it has to be done. For now Christmas is fast approaching and Vicki will be at the Dogotel over the holidays.
We'll keep sharing whatever news we have.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Love, Vicki and Laura xoxo

Not Much to Say
Vicki stayed in the kennel for a few days while we skipped out on a long weekend away. She came back smelling like the kennel so I immediately gave her a shower (we have no bath tub here). After her shower, she still smelled like the kennel so I sprinkled her with some talcum powder and that seemed to make things a little better. She still looks adorable as her buzz cut grows back…
